Viseu

The region of Viseu is located in a central geographical position, both within Portugal and within the Iberian Peninsula. This fact and its excellent road connections turn the region into a privileged communication platform between the Atlantic axis and the Iberian inland. During the last decades, the region of Viseu has become an important centre of economic development. Currently, the region features a dynamic, diversified and technologically advanced economy.

The region of Viseu is also one of the national leaders in the field of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency. In the domain of wind and hydropower - the most developed renewable energy sources in Portugal - the regions ranks in the first and second positions, respectively. On the other hand, there are economic groups of international dimension headquartered in the region, which are heavily committed in this sector and represent and interesting cluster.

Viseu has an extremely rich natural, historic and cultural heritage. The province has also several thermal spas and its reputation as a golfing destination is growing rapidly. Finally, it is mandatory to refer the region's renowned gastronomy and wines - Viseu is located at the heart of the winemaking region of Dão - as well as the great variety of traditional handicraft.
